Both PG

This article describes a Pixel Gun 3D map that is now removed from the game. If you are looking for the same map in Pixel Gun World, see Pool Party (PGW). For the currently-available, old version that existed before this map, see Classic Pool.

Pool Party was a small-sized map in Pixel Gun 3D, added in the 16.7.0 Arcade update,[1] and removed between 18.2.2 and the 19.0.0 Cyberpunk update.[2][3] While it was an reimagining and replacement of the original version, renamed Classic Pool, the maps were standalone before this version was taken out of the Map Selection menu.

Appearance[]

The map, like the original, featured a main pool with a diving board, as well as a hot tub at the side of the pool. The pool was also littered with blue and green inflatable mats. Both sides of the pool were lined with changing rooms, one red and one blue, and complete with washroom facilities, sinks, and lockers. Inside each changing room, there was a set of stairs leading to the roof of the pool facility. There was also a "Pool Rules" sign at the head of the pool. Directly above the pool was an open hover jet, similar to those found on the Aircraft Carrier map, and it also looked like the one in the dropping phase of Battle Royale.

Newly added, the roof of the pool had a wooden deck, and featured a variety of furniture such as pool chairs, picnic tables, crates, barbecue grills, and palm trees. The staircase rooms on each side of the roof also featured three solar panels on top.

Strategy[]

  • The best guns to use in this map were short-range ones, as this is a very close quarters map. Also, weapons with wall break were effective.
  • Weapons that would have been very effective in this map were Shotgun weapons, as well as Ricochet ones, like the Laser Bouncer.
  • Any Area Damage weapons would have also been useful in this map, especially in the indoor areas around the center pool and on the rooftop.
  • An effective strategy for this map was to simply walk in a large circle, covering every room except for the center pool. This would have allowed the player to hit most enemies, and the pool could have still been fired upon from most areas.
  • One good playstyle, akin to Three Category Spam, involved enabling the second fire button, equipping the Alien Blaster, other Ricochet weapons, and a one-hit kill weapon, like the Anti-Hero Rifle. In a match, the player could have pressed the second fire button (above the joystick) switched to the second gun, (except for Primary and Melee), and repeated this process for the third before cycling back to the first. This would have improved the player's switching speed between different weapons, and at the time one had shot with a weapon, then using another, the previous weapon shot would have been recharging at the time one were using the following weapon. This technique creates a faster fire rate with these normally-slow, heavy-hitting weapons, allowing them to be effectively used for high damage output in a small map.
  • In the hallways, one could have used Wall Break, Ricochet, and Area Damage weapons since they would have been almost impossible to avoid if used correctly. For instance, one could have used the Anti-Hero Rifle to shoot enemies diving behind the walls adjoining the area, or used the Laser Bouncer to shoot a laser that would have bounced multiple times in the small space. The ricochet effect not only increased damage, but it also greatened the likelihood of hitting an opponent, or multiple.

Trivia[]

  • This map could have only been played in Team Fight and Deathmatch. But, due to its congruent layout and lack of camping spots, this map was a popular choice for "1v1" Private Match duels.
    • In the 11.0.0 update, for the official Duel game mode, a map based on this (specifically, the Classic version) was added, called Night Pool.
  • The "Pool Rules" sign states the following rules as a gag:
    • No shooting
    • No crafting
    • No camping
    • No mining
    • No diving
      • Sometime later, however, this rule was removed.
  • In the newer versions, the skybox scenery (viewable on the roof) looked somewhat like the skyscrapers in the map Parkour City.
  • This map resembles fy_pool_day,[4] a very popular map from the Counter-Strike series. It is comparably identical to the 1.6 version, also featuring the iconic grid textures and simplistic, geometric visual style.
  • This and the night version of this map do not share the same soundtrack, despite both maps being very similar.
  • In the 12.5.3 update, in the Map Selection, the letters of this map's name became lowercased, except for its initials (POOL PARTY WDSArrow1Pool Party).
  • If one shot the Laser Bouncer at some of the buildings in the background (or another Ricochet weapon capable of such a distance), it would have bounced off some of them.
  • In the pool's water, one could have still used Flamethrowers, like the Pet Dragon, Flaming Volcano, and much more. Electro-throwers, like the High Voltage, experienced no differences underwater too.
    • However, the flame has an appearance of blue, due to the transparent tint effect of the water.
  • In the 16.7.0 update, this map was reworked. The map now added a more detailed rooftop section of the pool, as well as a hover jet. The original version was made a separate map.
    • This map was removed between updates 18.2.2 and 19.0.0. However, the latter version remains, still possessing its own current name.
